Kumbh Mela

A mass Hindu pilgrimage of faith where devotees gather to bathe at sacred river confluences, believed to cleanse sins and grant liberation (moksha). Recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The primary ritual is the holy dip in the river during astrologically prescribed auspicious times. The climax is the Shahi Snan (Royal Bath), where thousands of Naga Sadhus charge into the waters at dawn.
