Portuguese, 1617, built over an older Bijapur fort, and what survives is the outer wall and little else. Free and unstaffed, and the view down over the Chapora river and Vagator is why people climb up at six.

The rocky headland at the south end of Palolem, walkable at low tide and cut off at high — check the tide or you will be swimming back. The view along the whole crescent from the top is the reason to go.
