Attractions in Hyderabad (Charminar & Golconda)

3 places to see, with what each one is and how long it takes.

Charminar

Charminar

Attraction

Built in 1591 at the centre of the old city, with a minaret at each corner. You can climb one — a hundred and forty-nine steps up a tight spiral — and the view over Laad Bazaar is the reason to. Published heights for the minarets disagree depending on whether they are measured from the plinth, so ignore the numbers and look up.

Golconda Fort

A colossal medieval granite hill fortress complex featuring complex acoustic clap-signal networks, royal palace ruins, and deep weapon vaults.

Laad Bazaar

Laad Bazaar

Market

The historic old city bazaar alley flanking the Charminar, world-famed for authentic hand-crafted stone lacquer bangles and local pearls.

Elsewhere in Telangana

Not in Hyderabad (Charminar & Golconda) — these are in other towns across the state.
