The Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad is one of the oldest and largest mosques in India, begun in the 16th century by the Qutb Shahi rulers. Named for bricks said to be brought from Mecca, its vast prayer hall sits beside the Charminar at the heart of the old city.

Best visited October to March, though hill shrines may open only May-October.
