Kaolin pottery came out of the ground here, and it is the most interesting thing found on the site, read as evidence of early contact with China and of ceramic ideas moving into Northeast India. Roof tiles and decorative finials turned up too, so at least some buildings inside the fortified settlement were tiled rather than thatched. The remains lie east of Roing and belong to the Chutias, a Tibeto-Burmese people who ruled the Sadiya region from the 11th to the 16th century. The Buranjis appear to know the place as Doi-Thang. Expect foundations and wall lines, not rooms.
