Ganga Lake (India)

Ganga Lake (India)

Arunachal Pradesh

Gyekir Sinyi is the local name, and the one worth using.

Gyekir Sinyi is the local name, and the one worth using. It is a natural freshwater lake 6 km out of Itanagar, inside the Itanagar Wildlife Sanctuary, and the city treats it as its recreation ground, so a weekday morning is a very different place from a Sunday afternoon. The reason to linger is smaller than the water itself: 126 butterfly species have been identified around the lake. Stand still near the damp edges rather than walking straight round, and you will see more of them.
