Beach

Three and a half kilometres of white sand on the west side of Panjim, about 5 km from the centre of town by way of Miramar. The water is clear and the beach is reckoned safe for swimming, which is not true of every stretch in Goa. The Miramar-Dona Paula road runs parallel to it the whole way, so getting on and off is easy, and there are shacks, hotels and restaurants serving Goan food, plus water sports if you want them. This is a city beach rather than a remote one: convenient, backed by a neighbourhood, and best taken as a walk rather than a day's escape.
