Three temples and a museum stand along one edge of the Borpukhuri tank in the middle of Sivasagar, and the Sivadol is the one that dominates: 104 feet tall, 195 feet around at the base, topped by an eight-foot golden dome. Queen Ambika had them built in 1734, while the tank itself took from 1731 to 1738 to dig. Because the tank sits right in town, walking its bank is as much of the visit as the temples, and worth doing when the light is low.
