Bahula is usually reached on a drive rather than sought out on its own — one stop on the Bengal Peetha circuit that pilgrims cover in two or three days. The temple itself is small and rural, at Ketugram on the Ajay river in Purba Bardhaman, West Bengal. The Goddess here is worshipped as Bahula and her Bhairava is Bhiruk; tradition assigns this seat the left arm of Sati.
Why visit
Small and rural, on the Ajay river at Ketugram, and visited mainly as one stop on the Bengal Peetha circuit that pilgrims drive over two or three days.
Cultural notes
The circuit comes out of the Daksha Yagna story, which is what turns a scattered set of shrines into a single itinerary. The fuller name in use is Shri Bahula Shaktipeeth.
