Kanchipuram, the 'City of a Thousand Temples', is one of Hinduism's seven sacred Sapta Puri cities and a great centre of Dravidian temple architecture. Famed for the Kamakshi Amman, Ekambareswarar and Kailasanathar temples — and for its exquisite hand-woven Kanchipuram silk sarees.

Best visited October to March, though hill shrines may open only May-October.
