A hill station that is also a small village, in Surguja district in the north of the state. Ambikapur, the divisional headquarters, sits 50 km north; Raipur is 360 km away, and that second number is the one that decides your trip. This is a detour you plan for, not a weekend whim. What people drive up for is Ulta Pani, also called Bisar Paani, a stretch of water that appears to run uphill, against gravity. It is a genuine oddity and a short one. Come for the plateau and the road up from Ambikapur, and treat Ulta Pani as the excuse.
