A queen built this. Mumunda Devi of the Chindaka Naga dynasty raised it around 1111 AD in Narayanpal village, near where the Indravati meets the Narangi: Nagara in plan, Chalukya in the detail of the carving, dedicated to Vishnu. The inscriptions are cut in Devanagari, and one of them records a land grant made by Gunda Mahadevi, the queen-mother of the same dynasty. The far better-known Chitrakote Falls is 4 km west, in Bastar district. Pair the two, and start with the temple, early, before the day turns hot.
