Thadlaskein Lake

Thadlaskein Lake

Meghalaya

Someone dug this.

Someone dug this. The folktale gives the credit to Sajar Nangli, a young man who set his followers to the work in the middle ages, and the lake still carries his name as Pung Sajar Nangli. It lies right on National Highway 6 beside the small village of Mukhla, which makes it a five-minute stop rather than an outing. Pull over, walk a stretch of the bank, carry on. Do not plan a day around it.
