A reservoir rather than a beauty spot by design: the Fisheries Department owns Tam Dil and rears fish in it, while the Tourism Department keeps a holiday resort on the bank. What makes it interesting is what lives around it. Biodiversity researchers are drawn here by rare species, particularly amphibians and snakes — a frog, Leptobrachella tamdil, described in 2010, and a snake, Smithophis mizoramensis, reported in 2024. Saitual is the nearest town, 6 km away; Aizawl is 110 km. Worth the detour if you like quiet water and small creatures, less so if you want a spectacle.
