The Tyao runs 159 km along the line where Mizoram ends and Myanmar's Chin State begins. The place to actually stand beside it is Zokhawthar, in Champhai district, where a bridge carries an official border crossing and the Chin State town of Rikhawdar sits on the opposite bank. The river rises near Khuangphah village, also in Champhai, and eventually merges with the Kaladan, the river Mizoram knows as the Chhimtuipui. Come for the twin towns and the crossing between them; the water itself is the reason the boundary sits where it does, not the day out.
