Hill Fort Kesroli is one of the oldest fort-hotels in India, a seven-turreted 14th-century structure built by Yaduvanshi kings on dark Hornstone Breccia rock near Alwar. Successive rulers — Nikumbh Rajputs, Chauhans, Kachchwahas and finally the Khanzada Yadavas — held it before it fell into disuse, restored from 1995 and opened as a heritage hotel in 1998.

A short history

Built around 700 years ago (14th century) by Yaduvanshi kings, the fort passed through Nikumbh Rajput, Chauhan and Kachchwaha control before the Khanzadas (Yadava rulers who had converted to Islam) held it as a stronghold for the Mewat region from roughly the 15th century onward. Restoration by Neemrana Hotels began in 1995 and the property opened to guests in 1998. [Source: Neemrana Hotels' own site]
