Two rivers meet here and leave as one: the Jampani, which comes down out of Bhutan, joins the Bhairabi to form the Dhanshiri, itself a major tributary of the Brahmaputra. That confluence, with the Bhutan border right there, is why Udalguri district treats this as its picnic spot. An irrigation project sits on the Dhanshiri at this point, its guide dam built across the line inside Bhutan; a hydro scheme was drawn up alongside it and never came off. Go for the water and the day out, not for a sight to tick off.
