A few metres separate the linga from the base it once stood on, and the story goes that an earthquake tore it loose and dropped it where it now lies. It is reputed to be among the largest Shivalingas in the world, which is the reason most people make the detour into Ketakibari. A shelter has since been built over the site, so it is drier and more organised than the bamboo grove with a footpath it used to be, better for prayer and less atmospheric for photographs. Fifteen minutes is enough unless you are here to worship.
