Fort São Jerónimo

Walls on the right bank of the Damanganga, at the point where the river reaches the Gulf of Khambat, in the quarter the Portuguese called Damao Pequeno. The pull here is inside rather than out: the co-cathedral of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Seas stands within the fortress enclosure, so you pass through a Portuguese military gate and end up in a church. That combination is the reason to come, and it is a short enough stop that it belongs in an afternoon of walking Daman rather than a trip of its own.
