Gharib Dass Dhillon built this fort as the capital of a state he had just carved out of eighty-four villages, and it has stood in Mani Majra for more than 360 years. Its recent fame is borrowed: the Oscar-winning Zero Dark Thirty was shot here, and the fort has been busier since. That is a film-set reason to come rather than a historical one, and the history is the better half of it. Little else is on record, so expect a short look at old walls rather than an afternoon out.
