Finished in 1953, the block was built to hold the offices of East Punjab's Chief Secretary. When the Punjab Reorganisation Act of 1966 split that state, Chandigarh became capital to both Punjab and Haryana, and the two chief secretaries have shared it since. This is a working office rather than a monument, so the visit is an exterior one, but it is one of the three buildings of the Capitol Complex, inscribed by UNESCO in July 2016 among the seventeen sites of the Architectural Work of Le Corbusier. Take it in as part of the complex, not a separate stop.
