The Bargabhima Temple stands at Tamluk in Purba Medinipur, on the bank of the Roopnarayan, and is counted among the 51 Shaktipeeths, the one known as Vibhash. It is dedicated to the goddess Sati and called Bhimakali Mandir locally. The Tamluk Raj family built it, which is the useful thing to know before you arrive: this was their seat, and the temple is what survives of that. It is an ancient working shrine rather than a monument with a ticket counter, so come early and let the queue of worshippers move past you.
