Kherkatta Dam

Fifteen years went into building it, 1966 to 1981, by the Dandakaranya Development Authority at a cost of 5.46 crore rupees, and what it holds back is the Paralkot Reservoir, which runs northwest from the wall and spills across the district line into Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki. The dam sits on the Kotri river about 10 km northwest of Kapsi and is the largest in Kanker district, though Kanker town itself is 110 km away; Pakhanjur, at 20 km, is the practical base. It is an irrigation project first, so treat the water as the view and expect nothing arranged for visitors.
