Water from this reservoir reaches Durg, Bhilai Nagar Nigam and the Bhilai Steel Plant, which is a lot of duty for a wall finished in 1921. Work began in 1910 where the Tandula meets the Sukha Nala; the catchment behind it covers 827.2 sq km and the reservoir holds 302.31 million cubic metres. The Balod collectorate is about 2 km off, so this is a short walk out of a district town rather than a trip in itself, best kept for the end of an afternoon when the light is on the water.
