Yadavindra Gardens, popularly called Pinjore Gardens, is a Mughal-era terraced garden in Pinjore near Panchkula, built around 1661 by Nawab Fidai Khan under Aurangzeb. Laid out on seven descending terraces in the Shivalik foothills, it holds the Shish Mahal, Rang Mahal and Jal Mahal pavilions amid fountains and orchards.

When to go

Pleasant most of the year in the Shivalik foothills; the Baisakhi festival (April), Mango Mela (June-July) and Heritage Festival (December) mark seasonal highlights.

Walk through seven Mughal terraces with fountains, water channels and the Shish Mahal, Hawa Mahal and Rang Mahal pavilions, and enjoy the garden's Baisakhi, mango and heritage festivals held through the year.

How to reach

By Road: The gardens are about 22 km from Chandigarh on the Ambala-Shimla road (NH-5), and around 255 km from Delhi. By Air and Train: Chandigarh Airport is roughly 36 km away, and Kalka railway station, a few kilometres away, is the nearest railhead on the Kalka-Shimla line.
