St James' Church was founded in Karnal in 1806 and is no longer a church. Its tower, added to the building and 35 metres tall, still stands close to National Highway 1 and is treated now as a shrine in its own right. INTACH lists it as a historical monument, and the Archaeological Survey of India looks after it jointly with the All India Christian Council, which is an unusual arrangement for a building this size. Ten minutes is enough for it. Stop because you are already driving past, not because Karnal is worth a day for this alone.
