Tata Steel put this reservoir in during 1944 because Jamshedpur was running short of water, and the city is still only 15 km away. It lies against the edge of the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, which is the better reason to make the trip: the lake and the forested hills come as one outing rather than two. Being this close to a working steel city, it is busiest on holidays. Go on a weekday morning if quiet water is what you are after.
