Ima Market

Between five and six thousand women run the stalls here, and no man trades among them, a rule that has made Ima Keithel the largest all-women market in Asia. It sits in the middle of Imphal, so you will end up here whether or not you planned to: vegetables, fruit and fish at one end, textiles, spices, toys and utensils deeper in. It is firmly on the tourist route now, so expect to be looked at as much as you look. Buy something rather than only photographing. These are working stalls, not a display.
