Thanga Island, out in Loktak, keeps a museum about the lake it sits in: artefacts tied to the water, along with the folk customs and beliefs, folk medicine and folk literature collected around it. It is small and particular rather than comprehensive. Do it before you go out onto the lake rather than after, because the fishing life makes a good deal more sense with the stories attached to it, and it will not cost you much of a morning either way.
