The royal attires of the twelfth-century Moirang kings are kept and displayed here, which is reason enough to go even if the theology passes you by. This is the main seat of Thangching, a deity of Sanamahism, and one of the Imphal valley's most important ritual centres. The legend of Khamba and Thoibi belongs to this ground: the Khamba Thoibi Jagoi is held to have been danced for the first time in front of the deity's image, during the Lei Langba ritual. Loktak Lake is right there, so pair the two rather than making a separate trip.
