Coming in through the Kangla Sanathong, the fort's western gate, look left rather than straight ahead: beside the Nungseng Eekon stands the temple of Pakhangba, a god of Sanamahism, the traditional Meitei religion. Most visitors walk past it on the way to the citadel. It is small and it will not take long, but it is the piece that puts Kangla inside the Meitei religion rather than beside it, and the rest of the fort reads differently once you have seen it.
