Twijilikma is the local name, and the lake sits at Melaghar carrying two designations most Indian water bodies do not: the environment ministry lists it as a wetland of National Importance for its biodiversity and its socio-economic role, and the secretary general of the Ramsar Convention declared it a wetland of international importance, communicated to India in February 2007. What that amounts to on the ground is open water and wetland rather than built attractions, so come for the quiet rather than for something to look at.
