A short history
Established in 1936 as Hailey National Park, India's first national park, it was renamed in 1957 for hunter-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett, and became the launch site of Project Tiger in 1973 — the country's first dedicated tiger reserve and the model for every one that followed.
