Devprayag is the most sacred of the Panch Prayag — the five holy confluences of Uttarakhand — where the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers merge to form the Ganga itself. A small temple town clinging to the hillsides above the turquoise waters, it marks the very birth of the holy river.

When to go

Best visited October to March, though hill shrines may open only May-October.
