Munger Fort

Munger's fort sits on a rocky hillock above the south bank of the Ganges and carries almost everything the town has been: the tomb of Pir Shah Nufa, who died in 1497, Shah Suja's palace, the tomb of Mulla Muhammad Said, an 18th-century British cemetery, the old Chandisthana temple and the Kashtaharini Ghat down at the water. Ownership passed through Khaljis, Tughlaqs, Lodis, the Nawabs of Bengal and the Mughals before Mir Qasim handed it to the British. Nobody can date the walls with confidence. Treat it as a walk through a layered town, not one monument.
