A masonry weir on the Ghaggar-Hakra about eight miles out of Sirsa, thrown across a small lake called Dhanur and turning it into the sheet of water now known as the Ottu reservoir. Its job is irrigation — it feeds the two Ghaggar canals that water northern Haryana — and a tourist complex was added in 2002, when the weir was also named for Chaudhary Devi Lal. It is a working piece of engineering with a view attached: worth an hour if Sirsa is on your route, not worth the detour if it is not.

According to tradition, this is where the ankle bone of Goddess Sati fell when Lord Vishnu's Sudarshana Chakra divided her body. Here the Goddess is worshipped as Savitri (Bhadrakali), and her guardian Bhairava (a form of Shiva) as Sthanu. Shakti Peethas are among the holiest pilgrimage sites for devotees of the Goddess, drawing pilgrims especially during Navratri and Durga Puja. Each is tied to the legend of Sati, whose body parts fell across the Indian subcontinent and beyond, sanctifying the ground where they landed.
