Come knowing what this is. A village in Hansi district sits on one of the five largest settlements of the Indus Valley Civilisation, occupied through the pre-Harappan, early Harappan and mature phases, the last of which ended around 1900 BC. Five closely-integrated mounds make up the urban core; a sixth stands apart and older, a seventh was the burial ground. Two more found in 2014 pushed the ASI to claim this as the largest Harappan site known, spread across 300 to 350 hectares. Above ground it reads as earth and farmland, and the significance is all in what has been dug out of it, so read up before you go.
