Hansi's fort sits on the eastern bank of Amti lake and covers thirty acres, and in its working life it is said to have controlled eighty other forts in the country around it, with a name as one of the hardest places in ancient India to take. The ASI has held it as a centrally protected monument since 1937. It rewards a walk right round rather than a look in from the gate. Reckon on 135 km out of Delhi along NH9 — this is a day's outing, not a stop on the way to something else.
