Jharkhand has exactly one tiger reserve and this is it, about 1,130 square kilometres across Palamu, Latehar and Garhwa, with Betla National Park inside its boundary. If someone tells you they are off to Betla, this is the forest they mean. It was among the first nine reserves declared in 1973, when the tiger project began, which is the weight the name carries. Go for the forest itself and treat a tiger as luck; ground this large owes nobody a sighting.
