The baleen whale skeleton is the reason to walk in, said to be the largest held by any museum in India. Beyond it this is a school-trip museum, opened in 2004 near Acharya Vihar Square, with galleries on the plants, animals and geology of eastern and north-eastern India and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, all built around a conservation message. Animal exhibits can be felt by visually impaired students, which is rarer than it should be. Worth an hour with children; skip it if you came to Bhubaneswar for the temples.
