A semi-octagonal tower on the fort's eastern wall, joined to the Khwabgah of the Khas Mahal, this is where the emperor showed himself to his subjects each morning in the ceremony called Jharokha Darshan. Akbar II added the projecting balcony in 1808-09 and had the fact cut into an inscription over its arches. George V and Queen Mary used the same balcony at the Delhi Durbar of 1911. The Yamuna once ran close under the wall, and a small gate at the tower's foot let the emperor reach the royal barges; the river has since moved away, which takes something out of the view.
