Badkhal Lake

There is no lake. Mining in the hills around it drained the embankment two decades ago and it has stayed dry since, so anyone arriving expecting water gets a basin with the Aravallis behind it. The Haryana Tourism restaurants nearby still work, and a flower show comes every spring. What is left of the appeal is the setting — this is part of the leopard corridor running from Sariska up to the Delhi ridge — and the company it keeps: the 10th-century Surajkund reservoir is 15 km north, Anangpur Dam a kilometre further. Skip it unless you are already out this way.
